The Beauty
Breakdown...

This is the first Beauty Breakdown blog. It is the kissing cousin of the Style Shakedown offering tips and hints on how best to apply your makeup to work back with designer looks…..

Tips from Peita Gregory Makeup – boutique makeup artist to the stars!!

Make up looks to go with the Cilla & Pepe ‘Sexy Sally Slip’ Sexy Sally Slip - a cute and kitsch 50's style slip with a fine polka dot print and sheer mesh detailing. Comes in black and ivory.

Look 1: At home lounging – the Natural look
If you’re the kind of girl who likes to ‘’keep it real’’ then follow this basic step by step guide to achieve a look that’s au naturel and ‘’Oh so pretty’’......

·         Use a tinted moisturizer as a base and cover any under eye circles and blemishes with concealer.
·         Brush eyebrows up and smooth down the ends with an eyebrow gel to give a wide eye youthful appearance.
·         Curl eyelashes and coat the top lashes only in mascara that gives a natural look, nothing too dramatic.

·         A soft pink or peach cream blush applied to the apples of the cheeks gives off a cute romantic look.

·         Use the same blush and gently dab onto lips, or use a clear lipgloss or balm if wanting to keep it really ‘‘natural’’.
·         Finish with a light sweeping of translucent powder over the t-zone to set the look.

Perfectly pretty and ready for romance.....

Or
Look 2: Going out – the Rockabilly look
Into the ever so cool rockabilly look and have a taste for fun then look number two is just for you....

·         Prep skin with moisturizer and cover area’s needed with foundation to even out the complexion. Dab blemishes with a concealer.
·         Brush eyebrows into place and fill in any hairs that are missing with either a pencil or brow powder.
·         Smooth over the entire lid a cream colour shadow and lightly contour the socket with a light brown shadow. Make sure to blend, blend, blend!

·         Use a black liquid liner to create a cat’s eye or flick on the top lid.

·         Curl lashes and coat in volumizing mascara.
·         Contour the cheeks lightly with a matt bronzer or contouring powder to define the cheeks.
·         Prep lips by lightly buffing with a wet face cloth to remove any dry flakey skin. Slather in balm. Let the balm soak in if you have time, otherwise blot with tissue. Pop a little concealer over lips to prime the lips for the lipstick. Choose a deep red ( or go with something that suits your skin tone ) apply directly from the bulllet over lips then work into the lips with a lip brush or finger. Blot with a tissue and re-apply. No need to use a liner, this is an edgy cool look and defining the lips with a liner will look too polished.

Now you’re ready to rock it out.......

The
Style
Shakedown...

Striped Jersey Circ dress
          by leina broughton

This style is one of my favorites at the moment. The stripes are so enticing and the splash of red at the waist gives this dress a marine French feel. The jersey is soft so easy to layer and also transition from Summer into Autumn. For a summer look use nude accessories and for transeasonal try mixing it up with classic black.

Jacket ideas:
For transeasonal keep it clean with a soft-cropped leather jacket with ¾ sleeve. If black is not your style try tan leather accessories and remove the red belt.

Bag:
There are a few different looks that will work but texture is definitely a nice contrast against the soft jersey of this dress. Try to avoid bags with ‘bling’ for this style. As with the jacket not everything has to match. When there are slightly different tones it makes your style appear more effortless…

Shoes:
The key is to keep it simple! Nude or black is best for this look. If wearing a peep toe make sure you highlight the red on your toes. I think wearing a red shoe with this style is too matchy with the belt and detracts from the main feature of the stripes.

But you really do have to try this style on to feel the fun of wearing it. The circular skirt is flirty and feminine and you will definitely turn heads in this one.
Have fun!

Best, Leina xx
